D.C. Cops Suck Ass Part III

I don’t even have to try for this shit. Do I? And to you, you know who you are, with your little threats, I don’t take kindly to being bullied. Nothing I have written about the cops is untrue, and believe me, if I end up dead for what I’ve said, the Velvet Family will have a field day with the ensuing lawsuit. I come from a long line of ancestry who refused to be bullied. I will write whatever I want until this lazy police force starts to 1) have competent operators handling 911 calls, 2) respond quickly to calls, 3) only double park during emergency police business.* and on and on and on….

*emergency police business does not include a Slushie and a Bear Claw at 7-11

See what one of my bloggy friends has to say about his experience with the cops. Seems to be the rule, not the exception.

And Check This Out. Damn.

Velvet: Don’t let these guys bully you, but also make sure you have everything documented in the event that you end up in a gutter somewhere. I will say this once again… The type of person who would choose law unforcement as a career is generally an under-educated thug who sees it as his only opportunity for status or authority in life. And as far as the 911 operators in Double-O’s post, aren’t they employed by the city? That’s all you need to know. City employees are about the laziest group of humans you can find. Well, after cops.

I could tell you a zillion stories about crooked cops. I once had a friend who was dating a cop here in Baltimore and he showed her his secret spot where the cops go to SLEEP during their shift.

F’em all. And F the people who gush over how much they “respect the dangerous job the police have to do”.

I meant “enforcement”. Damn you gots me so riled up I can’t think straight!

  3. 17th and RI

I saw a fat DC cop riding his DC Police motorcyle down 17th Street last night…on the sidewalk! Pedestrians had to jump into oncoming traffic to get out of his way! Jeez.

  4. KM

Not to worry, Velvet. Whoever this emailer is is probably powerless when faced with a glazed doughnut. I suggest carrying around Munchkins rather than mace.

  5. Velvet

Cosmic – “unforcement” is a fabulous Freudian Slip. How are we supposed to feel safe when calling 911 yields about as much urgency as “I’d like to supersize that please.” What the fuck???? Arrrgh!

17th & RI – I saw one on a real bike, talking to someone on a corner last night for at least an hour and a half. Busy, huh?

KM – Well, you all heard it here first. If I end up dead…heh. But hey, I have a copyright on this shit, and I bet in my death it would be worth a lot. My niece could go to private school! Woo hoo! oh, wait. Forget it.

  6. Lucky

Is 911 ‘the police’ though? It may be different in DC, but they are actually emergency dispatchers who will contact the police where appropriate, yeah? It isn’t actually run by the police department.

Not that the DC police force is infallible, I’ve seen some good and some bad.

  7. KM

Hey, by the time they get around to whacking you, you’ll be somewhere out west anyway.

  8. johnny

here’s where i reveal the secret of how DC works….

    it doesnt.

  9. QofQ

Real question here…can anyone tell me why DC cops rather than capitol police do the motorcades? I was wondering that the other day when I had to wait 10 minutes to ride my bicycle down the street so some important guy could be escorted with 20+ motorcycles, cars, and SUVs with mega guns pointing out every which way. My bitter side says, how many polititions have been killed here recently? How many inocent citizens? Maybe we need some or-org to balance out the equation.

Velvet…lecturing emails are annoying. I’d just ignore it. I think he just wants to be your savior…blugh.

I agree–you should never allowed yourself to be bullied and we ALL have your back. Good for you for standing your ground.I posted on DoubleO’s site about how ridiculous I find this whole thing as well. Why can they ALL** not work to fight crime instead of consistently giving out parking tickets for the dumbest crap ever. AHHH.

**Bc I think some cops work their asses off and I don’t believe they ALL suck.

  11. QofQ

inocent? polititions? What’s wrong with me…politicians…anything but innocent. Look what not going to work does to my brain! No more sun for me.

  12. Raincouver

Didn’t the Hon. Anthony Williams run on a platform of law and order?

    Your tax dollars at work:
    http://dc.gov/mayor/budget_2007/budget_highlights/pdf/BH_overview.pdf

13% increase in Public Unsafety. Where is it????

  13. Velvet

Lucky – I don’t know the answer to that really. It’s a good point you bring up, however, shouldn’t the people who decide on priority of calls and dispatch to the cops be trained on oh, how not to hang up on people? Sort of reminiscent of post Sept 11 findings that those doing the X-Ray screenings were 7th grade dropouts making $4 an hour. Yeah. Not good.

KM – Or I’ll have to go out west just to get away from the multiple people who want to kill me. Seriously. My list of enemies is growing faster than gas prices.

All Knowing Johnny – I luvs ya!

QofQ – Hmm. Knowing he’s reading now is pretty funny. Calling it in, “Dude! She posted another!” I need to hire a bodyguard.

KK – I know. I generalize a bit. There are a couple cops in my neighborhood who really are pretty decent. But the whole system has to work. If the 911 calls never get dispatched, then no one shows. It’s not a good system. In NY they did this whole 911 assessment, you probably lived up there when that happened, it was like 15 years ago, and it wasn’t good. They found that the 911 operators were being rude to people. I was raised in a world where if you accidently dialed 911 and hung up, they called you back to make sure you were okay. And..why did we accidently call 911? Because in my town, the phones were rigged with some system where if you dialed 991 and the last 4 numbers of your phone number, the phone rang back. At 7 years old, we thought it was pretty cool. Except 911 is the more obvy thing to dial, and occasionally we made a mistake. Do that now? Yeah. Ha!

Raincouver – He ran on the Bowtie platform. Spend countless tax dollars traveling the world on our dime. There’s another one who needs some roasting. I don’t know enough about it though to talk, because it makes me sick. That’s Ninja and Double O’s territory.

  14. Bill

Doesn’t sound as if the 911 ops, wherever they are, are doing a good job of prioritizing calls. But even if they do, the can’t control whether the person dispatched is one of the good ones (I’m sure they do exist) or from the 7-11 brigade. You’re right, Velvet, the whole thing has to work as a system. My guess is that there’s a systemic bias toward protecting tourists and federal interests rather than residents and local businesses. Add a few lazy or demoralized cops (and every force has ’em) and the system is going to predictably fail in unpredictable ways.

I do worry for you, Velvet. It’s too easy for worlds to collide in general, and police have access to information that civilians don’t. It’s very nice, but practically meaningless, for people here to have your back. I think you’re doing the right thing, but at significant risk to yourself, so please be as careful as you can.

Of course, there are good and bad people in all professions. However, most incompetence doesn’t affect us except for cops and brain surgeons.

When my door in CH SE was kicked in, they were pretty good to me, but kept suggesting I was sleeping around and should not be out dating in DC. Like some crazy yahoo kicking in my door and running away was my fault!

So, I kept telling them that I only date nerds or geeks or artists, and I had only been on one date, so whatever. judge away, bitches.

BTW, there are laws against bullying.

  17. Moxie

umm, what comments? what did I miss? You know how I feel about this topic!
